“He is a sweet, beautiful soul who loved and is loved, now and forever,” Crawford wrote on Instagram on Sunday. She said the family felt blessed to have had him in their lives and thanked people for their messages of support.

Gerber died on 20 September at a rehabilitation facility in California. Police are investigating his death as a suspected overdose. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner lists the case as pending further investigation, while Santa Monica police have said there is no indication of foul play. [1]

His sister, model Kaia Gerber, also shared a tribute on Sunday, including a letter recalling their childhood and describing her grief after learning that an earring had been removed from her brother’s body. [1]

Gerber followed his mother and sister into modelling, making his catwalk debut for Moschino at 16. He had also spoken publicly about mental health challenges and drug use, and posted videos he called “Mental Health Mondays”. [1]
