The reported end to talks about a possible role in Guy Ritchie’s Netflix drama follows doubts raised months ago. A separate claim that the rumours were used as publicity remains unproven.

Talks about Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, appearing in the third series of *The Gentlemen* have been abandoned, an unnamed source close to her told The Telegraph. The report concerns a possible role, not the loss of an announced part. [2]
The prospect had already been in doubt for weeks. In August, Tina Brown said Meghan’s casting had been withdrawn after a backlash in Britain. In September, the show’s star Theo James called rumours of her involvement “mainly a lot of hot air”. Neither account settles how far any discussions had progressed. [3] [4]
The Telegraph’s source also said some people around Meghan felt Netflix had used her name to promote series two. That is an accusation, not an established account of who publicised the possible role or why. Netflix says series two became available on 3 September and has confirmed a third series. [2] [5]
The Telegraph cited Barb figures showing about three million British viewers for the first episode of series two after seven days, compared with 3.5 million for the first series’ debut. Those figures do not establish whether the casting rumours affected viewing. Nieuws.nl, citing People, said representatives for Meghan and Netflix had not responded to requests for comment at the time of its report. [2] [1]
