De Jong injured his knee in a training collision with Quinten Timber during the World Cup in June, ANP reported. The injury kept him out of Barcelona’s opening matches of the season, and he is absent from the Netherlands squad during the current international period. AS expects him to rejoin group training while many Barcelona players are away on international duty. [1]
AS also suggested Barcelona’s home match against Alavés on 1 November could be De Jong’s first opportunity to play again. [1]
ANP reported via Nieuws.nl that De Jong, 29, shared a series of Instagram photos of himself on a pitch at Barcelona’s training complex on Saturday. He has been dealing with a knee injury for several months after sustaining it at the last World Cup, the agency said. [2]
It remains unclear whether De Jong has resumed group training or when he might be available to play again.
