A woman was seriously injured after a man hit her on the head with an object during a party near Amsterdam Sloterdijk station early on Saturday, police said. The suspect has not been arrested.
The incident happened on Rhôneweg after two women argued at the party. Police said the man intervened and struck one of them. The injured woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries, according to a report by ANP carried by Nieuws.nl.
Police said the suspect fled amid the commotion that followed. Officers also used batons to keep aggressive partygoers at a distance, the force said.
Local media initially reported that the assault took place at an Amsterdam Dance Event party. A police spokesperson said it was a different event, unrelated to the festival.
