Celtic’s largest shareholder, Dermot Desmond, was targeted by a fan protest during the Alfred Dunhill Links tournament in St Andrews. Tennis balls were thrown towards him during the pro-am competition, BBC Sport reported. [1]
The balls, bearing crossed-out pictures of Desmond’s face, landed on the 15th green. Images showed security escorting him off the course. [1]
The Celtic Fans Collective said the protest was intended to challenge what it described as Desmond’s ability to run the club while avoiding accountability to supporters. [1]
