Jack Grealish will miss Everton’s Premier League match against Coventry on Friday, manager David Moyes has confirmed, after the midfielder was left out of the club’s previous two games following a disciplinary breach.
Moyes said on Thursday: “No, Jack is not available. I wouldn’t give you the plan but we will be working with Jack again soon.” Asked whether the international break might help resolve the issue, he said: “We just need to wait and see how things go.”
Everton have not publicly explained the disciplinary matter. It is understood to have followed an unauthorised absence from training. The club said Grealish was also unavailable for Monday’s match because of a lack of fitness.
The latest absence follows Grealish’s earlier omission from Everton’s squad after a breach of club discipline. Moyes had said after Monday’s win at Newcastle that Grealish still had a future at Everton, but could not say when he would return.
Grealish, 31, is on a second loan spell at Everton from Manchester City. He made six appearances this season before his recent absence. His contract is due to expire at the end of the season; he scored twice in 22 appearances during his first spell at the club, which was cut short by injury.
