SC Heerenveen beat NEC 1-0 in the Eredivisie on Saturday, extending their good run and leaving the Nijmegen side with a fifth consecutive league match without a win.
Dylan Vente scored the only goal midway through the second half at the Abe Lenstra Stadium, heading into an unguarded net after Levi Smans spotted NEC goalkeeper Gonzalo Crettaz out of position and supplied the pass.
Heerenveen stayed seventh with 18 points from 11 matches. NEC, who had beaten Dinamo Zagreb in the Europa League, dropped to 13th after four successive league draws followed by the defeat.
