Residents of the Tuindorp-Zuid and Nijverheid neighbourhoods reported an unpleasant smell on Friday evening. ANP reported that it came from a company on Onyxstraat in Hengelo’s Twentekanaal industrial area. The odour was linked to the company’s water-treatment installation, where a biological process was producing more smell than usual. Twente Veilig said residents could be affected for several more days. [1]
The fire brigade said the smell may be noticeable to varying degrees across Hengelo and could reach other areas if the wind changes. ANP reported that it poses no danger to health, though it may be unpleasant. [1]
