Dutch actor and writer Maike Meijer says she is “super happy, mega moved and incredibly proud” that her comedy *Wen er maar aan* is drawing full cinemas across the Netherlands.
“[This] never gets old!” she told the ANP news agency in a brief response, according to Nieuws.nl.
The film, based on Meijer’s book about menopause, has attracted more than 250,000 cinema-goers in its first two weeks. Nieuws.nl reports that Dutch films rarely reach that milestone so quickly. Meijer, known for the comedy series *Toren C*, plays a 50-year-old actress struggling with menopause; Bas Hoeflaak, Bianca Krijgsman, Hadewych Minis and Beppie Melissen also star.
Nieuws.nl says the film is likely to reach 400,000 admissions within a week, the threshold for platinum status. *Wen er maar aan has already drawn 250,000 cinema-goers in two weeks.*
